Porcelain Veneers are a fast and long-lasting way to achieve a “smile makeover”. These are dental restorations secured to the surface of the teeth to mask chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, minor misalignment, and gaps. This alternative is not as invasive as other prosthetic treatments, because it leaves more of your original teeth intact. These wafer-thin shells (around 1 mm) are made from porcelain and slightly translucent. Like natural enamel, they allow some light to pass through its surface rather than simply reflecting it. As a result, porcelain veneers are completely natural-looking; they blend in seamlessly with surrounding teeth and provide an ideal alternative to traditional metal restorations. They can also be color customized and shaped to suit your face and mouth.
To start the process we will need a picture of you smiling naturally to evaluate your bite and the condition of your teeth. This will help determine if you are a candidate for veneers, as well as your best option for overall treatment.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment that can help improve the appearance of your teeth. The procedure involves applying a composite resin material to the surface of a tooth, which is then sculpted and polished to match the natural appearance of your other teeth.Composite veneers are a great option for addressing a variety of cosmetic dental issues, including gaps, stains, chips, and misshapen teeth. They are cost-effective, versatile, and can be completed in just one visit to I love my dentist.
TIMELINE
1st. VISIT
Impressions
During the first visit, the specialist will perform an evaluation to see if the patient is a good candidate. Then impressions of the teeth will be made by digitally scanning them or using a mold, to make an appropriate design and prototype to fit the patient’s needs. Temporary veneers may be placed if the patient wants to try the feel and performance of their teeth for about a week. This may increase the time of the treatment.
2nd VISIT
(One week later) Place of veneers
On the second visit, our specialist will prepare the teeth and perform a “try-in” test of the permanent veneers to confirm the feel and fit is adequate. These will be bonded to the teeth with special cement and hardened with an ultraviolet lamp, only until the patient is completely satisfied with the result.
3rd Visit
(One to two weeks later) Post-op
We encourage our patients to visit for a third time for a final evaluation. During this visit, the specialist will take photographs and evaluate the correct performance of the veneers. Adjustments may be made in case the patient expresses any additional needs.
*This timeline is calculated based on most cases; depending on the patient, sometimes the treatment may need 4 or up to 5 visits.
PORCELAIN VENEERS
PROS
- They are more affordable than other prosthetic procedures.
- Less invasive compared to other treatments because the specialist only removes a thin layer of enamel to accommodate a veneer.
- They are natural-looking and do not stain.
- They can be customized to fit your facial symmetry and style.
CONS
- Once the veneers are placed, there´s typically minimal movement, but you may need to wear a night guard to protect them if you grind your teeth at night.
- Removing a layer of enamel can make a tooth more sensitive to heat and cold.
- Veneers may be vulnerable to staining, chipping or cracking.
- It is not a reversible procedure.
It’s important to remember that the health of your back teeth determines the health of your front teeth, this is why our board certificated specialists are ready to help you decide and navigate the best option for you!
COMPOSITE VENEERS
PROS
- Composite veneers are an affordable option for those looking to improve the appearance of their smile.
- You just need one visit!
- Composite veneers can be removed and replaced easily without causing any damage to the natural tooth structure.
- They can be used to address a variety of cosmetic dental issues, including gaps, stains, chips, and misshapen teeth.
CONS
- Composite veneers are not as durable as porcelain veneers and may need to be replaced more frequently.
- The composite resin material used in composite veneers may be more prone to staining than porcelain veneers, which can impact their appearance over time.
- In some cases, porcelain veneers may be a more appropriate option for addressing cosmetic dental issues, particularly if the patient has more significant structural damage to their teeth.
It is important to consult with one of the qualified dental professionals at I love my dentist to determine whether composite or porcelain veneers are a suitable option for your individual needs and goals.

PROCEDURE FAQ'S
1How do I know if I'm a candidate?
It primarily depends on your bite and overall health of your teeth. If you have a periodontal disease or weakened teeth as a result of fractures or dental fillings; or not enough enamel, you may not be a candidate.
We encourage you to send us a picture of you smiling naturally to evaluate your condition and determine the best option for you.

It depends on your smile. We encourage you to send us a picture of you smiling naturally to evaluate your specific case.
3Should I get veneers or crowns?
At I love my Dentist we will always encourage our patients to keep their original teeth if these are in good condition. Veneers are the best option if your needs are just esthetic. Crowns are suitable for other more complex circumstances such as fractured or lost teeth.
4Do my teeth need to be perfectly aligned before getting veneers?
Preferably, yes; but every case will be diagnosed based on its specific conditions.
5Can veneers be used to close gaps?
Yes, with veneers we can fix size, color and shape of the teeth.
6Are veneers covered by insurance?
No insurance covers veneers, because they are a cosmetic procedure considered not necessary.
7Can I have veneers if I have TMJ?
Yes, with an adequate prior diagnose. We may need to make a special nightguard to protect your veneers and the overall health of your teeth.

With veneers we are more conservative than with other procedures. The original teeth will be shaped down from .5 to .8mm on the front and up to 1mm on the edge. These may vary depending on the conditions of every patient.
9Can I have a virtual consultation for veneers?
