This depends on the pain tolerance of the patient. Minor discomfort may be present, mostly caused by preexisting tooth sensitivity. If present, this effect is typically gone within a day. If the procedure is performed by a trained professional the chances of damage are minimal to none.

You should at least wait for 48 hours after the procedure to smoke again. However, we highly recommend avoiding smoking, as this treatment does not prevent your teeth from staining again, and tobacco is one of the main causes for teeth staining. It also may have other negative effects on your overall health.
